Visa Types

Understand your options before entering Bali

Overview

Bali offers several visa options depending on your nationality, length of stay, and purpose of visit. Choosing the right visa ensures a smooth entry and avoids complications during your trip. If you're unsure where to begin, start with the Entry Requirements to confirm your eligibility.

Visa on Arrival (VoA)

Available to citizens of over 80 countries, the Visa on Arrival allows a 30-day stay and can be extended once for another 30 days. It’s ideal for short holidays and is processed at the airport upon arrival. Learn more in our Visa on Arrival guide.

Electronic Visa (e-Visa)

The e-Visa is issued online before travel and is suitable for longer stays, business visits, or multiple entries. It requires sponsorship and must be applied through an authorized agent or immigration portal. This option is often chosen by travelers planning stays beyond the Visa on Arrival limits.

Tourist Visa (B211A)

This visa is for travelers who want to stay longer than 60 days. It must be arranged before arrival and can be extended monthly up to 180 days. It’s popular among digital nomads and long-term visitors. For extension details, see our Visa Extension guide.

Social & Cultural Visa

Intended for those visiting family, attending cultural events, or participating in educational programs. Requires sponsorship from an Indonesian citizen or organization and allows multiple extensions. This visa is often compared with the B211A Tourist Visa depending on travel purpose.

KITAS & Long-Stay Visas

For expats, retirees, and remote workers planning to live in Bali, KITAS (Temporary Stay Permit) offers long-term residency. These visas require more documentation and are processed through immigration agents. Travelers transitioning from a short-stay visa often explore KITAS options.
