What are Tirta Empul opening hours?
Tirta Empul is open daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The temple gates close to new visitors at 4:30 PM.
What is the entrance fee?
Foreign adults pay IDR 50,000, foreign children IDR 30,000, domestic adults IDR 25,000, and domestic children IDR 15,000. Children under 3 are free.
Can I bathe in the temple pools?
Yes — Tirta Empul is famous for its melukat (holy water purification) ritual. Visitors can optionally join locals in bathing under the spring water spouts. Dress modestly and follow the temple priest's guidance.
Do I need to dress modestly?
Yes. All visitors must wear a sarong and sash, which are provided free of charge at the entrance and included in the admission fee. Shoulders should be covered.
When is the best time to visit?
Early morning (8:00–10:00 AM) is ideal for fewer crowds and better photos. Weekdays are quieter than weekends. During Galungan and Kuningan festivals, the temple is busier with full ceremonies.
