Getting to Ubud Monkey Forest

How to reach Bali’s famous monkey sanctuary

Ubud Monkey Forest sits in the center of Ubud, making it one of the easiest animal and cultural attractions to reach. If you are staying in Ubud, walking or getting a short scooter ride is usually the simplest option.

🚗 By Car or Scooter (Recommended)

Most travelers get there by scooter or private car. From central Ubud, it is usually a 5–15 minute ride depending on your hotel location. A scooter rental is convenient if you are already exploring the area, while a private driver is easier if you are planning multiple stops in one day.

🚕 By Taxi or Ride-Hailing

Grab and Gojek are commonly used in Bali and are a practical choice if you are staying outside the center. Taxis are also available, but ride-hailing services usually offer a more predictable price.

🚌 By Tour or Driver

Many Ubud day trips include the Monkey Forest together with Tegallalang Rice Terraces, a temple, and a waterfall stop. This is a very popular option for first-time visitors and a good way to keep the day efficient.

🗺️ Where It Is

Use “Ubud Monkey Forest” or “Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary Ubud” in Google Maps. It is located close to the main Ubud town center and easy to combine with shopping streets, cafés, and temples.

Pro tip: Go early in the morning to avoid the midday heat and get a smoother experience before the crowds pick up.
