What are Uluwatu Temple opening hours?
Uluwatu Temple is open daily from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The Kecak dance is performed daily at 6:00 PM.
What is the entrance fee?
Foreign adults pay IDR 50,000, foreign children IDR 30,000, domestic adults IDR 35,000, and domestic children IDR 15,000. Children under 3 are free.
What should I wear?
You must wear a sarong and sash (selendang) when visiting the temple. These are provided free of charge at the entrance and included in the entrance fee. Shoulders and knees must be covered.
Is Uluwatu Temple safe?
The temple has steep cliffs with no barriers in some areas. Hold hands with children at all times. The biggest concern is the long-tailed macaques — they are aggressive and will steal sunglasses, phones, hats, and food.
When is the best time to visit?
For sunset and Kecak dance, arrive between 4:30–5:30 PM. For quieter visits, come early in the morning (7–9 AM).
Can I bring a stroller or wheelchair?
The temple is on a steep cliff with many steps and uneven surfaces. It's not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs. The path from the parking lot to the entrance is paved but steep.
Are there monkeys?
Yes — long-tailed macaques are everywhere. They are protected and quite aggressive. Never feed them, keep food secured, and wear secure sunglasses or none at all.
How long does a visit take?
Plan for 1–2 hours. Most visitors combine it with the Kecak dance (at 6 PM) for a total of 2–3 hours.
